After countless of shower products I declare myself an expert when it comes to not getting shampoo in my eyes, choosing the right smells and bottles that don’t escape my butterfingers. Summer rolled in and so did these four new additions.
I astound people whenever they ask me how much time I spend in the bathroom. Surprised that it’s not hours but a mere 15 minutes, they quickly ask me how I manage that and still look fully groomed. I do enjoy being ever slightly unkempt as it’s more natural for guys. How about I share my new tips to care for yourself from head to toe with a mere 3 products!?
Showers always start with the right temperature of water, never boiling hot as it’s really damaging and drying on our skin, tepid is the way to go and since I generally speaking come back from the gym.. I’m overheating already so it’s borderline cold. I wet my hair, fully slick it back with water and then apply a walnut size amount of the Kérastase Densifique Shampooing Repulpant, a seriously amazing treatment shampoo with Stemoxydine that gets all the daily grime and styling products out in 1 go, nourishing hair and scalp with a creamy hydrating foam and rinsing completely clean in 5 seconds. My hair feels supple, thicker, softer and healthier.. but do take note that I combine it with the treatment serum afterwards.
Moving onto the face always happens AFTER you’re done with shampoo! I don’t bother with giving attitude to my shower head like others do in order to not let the shampoo rinse out while running over my face. No I just rinse it out quickly and then cleanse my skin, currently with a gentle scrub cream called the Absolution La Crème Gommante. Dull skin, imperfections and clogged pores won’t stand a chance with this micro grain natural scrub. It’s like a who’s who of the healthy organic muesli bowl: almond pulp, micro-algae, blueberries, lemon, orange, maple, rosemary, coriander seed oil, etc. I’m seriously impressed at how smooth and creamy it feels, effortlessly glides on and polishes to perfection. Do not use this with a washcloth or cleansing tool, your fingers are more than enough. 99,4% natural everyone!
Hair done, face done so now it’s all about that huge lump of body. I never recommend stripping shower oils for oily skin or anything that even remotely indicates to “purify and deep cleanse” the skin. Those things wreck havoc over time and you’ll get itching, dry skin in no time. We all enjoy a shower often so we need to take something gentle we can use often. Meet the new and improved La Roche Posay Lipikar Soothing Protecting Shower Gel. Soap free and paraben free, you can lather up this runny liquid and coat yourself in a refreshing foam. I use that shower puff you see and just work in the foam I make, rinsing off is instantly. It’s gentle enough for daily use but if you have seriously dry skin, there’s more relief from using an oil or cream. Very good products, just not entirely convinced about the tube packaging, the cap is really hard to close again and you’re standing there with wet hands.
If I’m feeling like going down a fragrance road -not every shower is fully dermatological and fragrance free- I go straight for this Klorane Gel Douche Surgras Figue Exquise. It’s indeed an exquisite sugary sweet fig scent that steams up the entire bathroom, feels creamy and nourishing on the skin yet without a heavy feeling skin afterwards. It hydrates, softens and scents above all -being soap free still-, but I don’t mind as it comes in over 10 different scents. This is a limited edition for the summer so grab it while you can, a new one will be on its way soon for the holidays and wintertime no doubt.
