An advantage to following the men’s shows is that trend forecasting for men is somewhat simpler than forecasting the many short-lived fads of womenswear – in part due to the fact that menswear moves at a glacial pace, but also due to the way women’s trends often seep into the men’s collections. It was the latter that was demonstrated throughout Frida Giannini’s SS14 offerings at Gucci. Futuristic sportswear was the season’s direction, bringing into play a dominant trend of womenswear collections past (at both Gucci and other houses). Giannini made sure to incorporate the added sense of luxury that justifies the brand’s pricey wares, through innovative textiles of the finest calibre.
I won’t go any further in depth – as per usual Tim Blanks has already done a far better job than I ever could.
